Morrissey Atlanta reviews
Just happened to be in Las Vegas...
I was in town for a family vacation and saw the billboard and about died!
I knew I had to get a ticket and go. It was actually the first concert I'd ever gone to alone and it was really great to talk to the people around me who were thrilled to be there too!
The guy next to me was solo as well so we called it a "date" even though we are both married... it was fun talking about how we were introduced to The Smilths / Morrissey and how our spouses were completely uninterested. The night was magical and was joy to see all of us so very happy to see Moz and the gang again especially Alain. For me it has been over a decade so it was about damn time!
Moz sounded as good as ever
My wife and I loved the venue at Caesars Colosseum. Moz's stage production was exceptional, per the usual. We also really enjoyed the unique vignettes before the show, which always introduce us to new artists and music from the past. Morrissey demonstrated great range and depth in his singing voice, especially considering that this was one of the last shows of the Vegas residency. Moz played several classic hits from The Smiths and his early solo career, opening the show with 'How Soon Is Now'. We noticed that our setlist on Saturday night had one or two additional classics that were not played at earlier shows. It was also a special treat to see Alain Whyte back in the fold. I think these types of engagements / residencies, Vegas and Broadway, serve Moz well at this stage of his career. He should let the devoted fans come to him (as most do) instead of trudging around the country. Can't wait to hear more new music and see Morrissey again in the future. Thank you for a special evening.
DON'T BOTHER SAVE YOUR MONEY!
I've seen Morrissey 3x in the last 33yrs. And the show hasn't changed. I think the stage rushers are planted to shorten the show. It's happened since the first time I saw him 33yrs ago. Someone rips is shirt then off Morrissey jets off the stage. The morbid videos he plays prior to show are annoying. Lastly, the show is so short it's not worth the money. Nearly every 80's concert I've seen in the last 30+ yrs, they always give you 2 sometimes 3 ovations. The CURE for certain! Just saw OMD in May, they were amazing! Don't waste your money and just watch his old MTV videos.
Disappointing
I do not think I will ever pay to see Morrissey again and this to me is very upsetting. I have paid to see him 13 times over the last 20 years and I have actually only been able to see him twice (if you count the 1/2 a performance I saw on 12/3/22 @ The Met in Philly - 2.5 times).
I know he is moody, it is part of his charm. I feel the stage-front crowd @ The Met performance are to blame for that night's show abruptly ending on Saturday because folks could not be respectful and not try and jump on the stage (and yes, I know this has been happening for decades). I felt for Morrissey and I really felt for the security guards who for the better part of the song Sweet and Tender Hooligan had a hard time fending off the constant barrage of folks trying to get on stage, many of whom actually did.
Was just incredibly disappointing those people didn't realize their actions would jeopardize the performance for ALL of us. To the Met - please do better from a security standpoint (or to supplement the artist's security team) to protect the performers if at all possible.
